Where can I cruise to from Australia?

The most popular destination among these sailings is Australia itself — coastal voyages that trace the continent’s ports without a single international border. After that, the South Pacific is strongly represented, followed by New Zealand, which pairs naturally with Australian departures into combined Australia and New Zealand itineraries. Polynesia and Fiji round out the region, and for those with more time, transpacific crossings connect Australia to ports in the Americas and Asia. The majority of sailings in these waters run for around 12 nights, though voyages range from 4 nights to 96 nights, so there is something here whether you want a long weekend at sea or a serious expedition.

Which ports do these sailings leave from?

Sydney is by far the busiest departure port — if you live in New South Wales, you can board on your doorstep and be at sea the same afternoon. Brisbane is the second major hub, with a strong programme of its own. Melbourne departures serve Victoria-based travellers equally well. Perth (Fremantle) also features as a starting point, particularly for sailings heading toward transpacific and Asian itineraries.

Some sailings start or end outside Australia — in Singapore, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or Tokyo, for example. On one-way itineraries, the voyage connects two cities and a short domestic flight links the two ends — we can book that too, along with any hotels and transfers either side, as part of a Cruise1st Package.

Close to home — Australian coastal, South Pacific and New Zealand sailings

The core of Australia’s cruise market is close to home, and the range here is genuinely wide. A short coastal voyage from Sydney to Brisbane — or the reverse — is a relaxed way to see ports you might normally drive past. Longer sailings reach the South Pacific, weaving through island groups on itineraries that typically run from ten to fourteen nights. New Zealand is a natural extension of many Australian sailings, either as its own destination or as part of a broader Australia and New Zealand voyage. Polynesia and Fiji also feature, and dedicated Sydney to Fiji sailings are a popular choice for those wanting a tropical itinerary without a long-haul flight.

For an in-depth cruise around Australia, itineraries circle the continent visiting ports on every coast — a practical way to see the country in a way few land trips can match.

The long haul — transpacific and international sailings

Transpacific crossings depart Australian ports and arrive in North America, or vice versa, making them a compelling way to combine a cruise with a trip to the US west coast. Cruises from Singapore to Australia in 2027 and Singapore to Australia sailings in other years are a popular choice for travellers building an Asia-Pacific holiday. Arrivals from Hawaii are also available — see cruises from Hawaii to Australia for those itineraries. Where the cruise is the centrepiece of a longer international trip, we book the international flights, hotels either side and transfers as one booking.

Which cruise lines sail to Australia?

Princess Cruises is the most popular line in this collection, with the largest number of sailings. Carnival Cruise Line is close behind and particularly active on Australian coastal and Pacific routes. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises both have strong programmes, as do Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Cunard. Oceania Cruises, Silversea Cruises, Azamara and Norwegian Cruise Line round out the offering, covering everything from large resort ships to boutique luxury vessels of 777 guests.

Ships sailing to Australia — what to expect on board

Grand Princess — Princess Cruises

Grand Princess carries more sailings in this collection than any other ship. Dining is anchored by the Crown Grill steakhouse — named Best Cruise Steakhouse by USA Today — and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria for specialty evenings. The MedallionClass® OceanNow® system, accessed through the Princess app, delivers food, drinks and services to wherever you are on the ship. For sailings from Brisbane and Sydney, the Movies Under the Stars® giant poolside screen is a highlight: free popcorn, blankets and a film while you’re at sea. For cabin options on Grand Princess, see the Grand Princess cabins and deck plans.

  • Inside cabin IA — 14.9 m², sleeps 4, located on middle decks with minimal ship motion and central access to lifts and facilities
  • Premium sea view O3 — 19.1 m², sleeps 4, floor-to-ceiling panoramic window with unobstructed sea views
  • Premium Balcony cabin B2 — 25.5 m², sleeps 4, floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors for a more open feel than standard balcony cabins
  • Grand Suite S1 — 67.8 m², sleeps 4, the largest suite on board with a private hot tub

Carnival Adventure — Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Adventure is the most active Carnival ship in Australian waters. The EDGE Adventure Park above deck gives you zip-lining, rock climbing, abseiling and a flying fox — a serious activity offering that most ships don’t carry. Dining runs from Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse to Bonsai Sushi, with Blanc de Blanc Uncorked cabaret for evening entertainment. Families are well catered for: Camp Ocean covers ages 2 to 11, Circle C and Club O2 run teen programmes, and the adults-only Serenity Retreat and Cloud 9 Spa are there when you want quiet. Review the full Carnival Adventure cabins and deck plans when choosing your grade.

  • Inside cabin 4A — 15 m², sleeps 4, with a walk-in wardrobe suited to longer voyages
  • Ocean-view cabin with Porthole PT — 15 m², sleeps 4, two round portholes on the quieter lower decks
  • Balcony cabin 8A — 16 m², sleeps 4, private balcony with glass folding door
  • Byron Beach Club Presidential Suite SB — 58 m², sleeps 4, flagship suite with an expansive balcony and dressing area

Celebrity Edge — Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Edge carries one of the most talked-about features at sea: the Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered floating platform, which moves up 16 storeys of the hull and serves as a bar, restaurant or dive platform depending on the day. Infinite Veranda staterooms fold the entire balcony wall away, merging the cabin and the outdoors. Le Petit Chef offers a 3D animated dinner experience at the table, and Eden, the three-level live-performance venue, gives the ship a social energy that more traditional ships don’t match. Check the Celebrity Edge cabins and deck plans before booking.

  • Deluxe Inside cabin DI — 18.8 m², sleeps 4, around 2 m² larger than standard inside cabins with more storage
  • Deluxe Ocean-view cabin DO — 22.1 m², sleeps 4, the most spacious ocean-view grade on the ship
  • Sunset Veranda Stateroom SV — 21.2 m², sleeps 4, the largest balcony of all standard balcony cabins at approximately 8.3 m²
  • Iconic Suite IC — 239.8 m², sleeps 6, with a private hot tub and 270° panoramic views from the highest position above the bridge — the largest suite in the Celebrity fleet

Royal Princess — Princess Cruises

Royal Princess is known for the SeaWalk — an 18-metre glass-bottomed walkway that hovers 40 metres above the ocean. It is one of the most dramatic features on any ship currently sailing in Australian waters. MedallionClass OceanNow delivery works the same way as on Grand Princess, letting you order to any spot on the ship. Crown Grill and Sabatini’s cover specialty dining, and the 24-hour International Café means there is always somewhere to eat. See Royal Princess cabins and deck plans for a full breakdown of grades and layouts.

Norwegian Spirit — Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Spirit underwent a full refurbishment in 2020, adding Onda by Scarpetta modern Italian to the dining lineup alongside the retained Cagney’s Steakhouse. The Spice H2O adults-only open-air beach club is NCL’s signature outdoor entertainment deck — an Ibiza-style space that works particularly well on Pacific sailings. The Stardust Theatre stages original productions nightly for those who want a full evening programme. For cabin details, the Norwegian Spirit cabins and deck plans are on the site.

Azamara Pursuit — Azamara

Azamara Pursuit carries just 777 guests and is built around a different philosophy: longer time in port, overnights where possible, and late departures so you can stay ashore for the evening. AzAmazing Evenings — exclusive private cultural events at the destination — are included in the fare. Specialty dining at Prime C and Aqualina is also complimentary. For a boutique experience with genuine destination depth, this is one of the more distinctive options in Australian waters. The Azamara Pursuit cabins and deck plans are available if you want to choose your grade carefully.

What fare types are available?

Princess Cruises offers a base Standard fare and the Princess Plus package, which bundles 4 casual dining meals per voyage, beverages up to A$15 each (with a daily limit of 15 drinks), MedallionNet® Max Wi-Fi, pre-paid crew appreciation, unlimited digital photographs plus 3 prints, and reserved theatre seating. It is a meaningful bundle for anyone who would otherwise add drinks and Wi-Fi separately.

Royal Caribbean fares include a standard cruise fare, a solo traveller option, and fare types such as last-minute offers and multi-guest promotions — useful to ask about when you call. Note that the Royal Caribbean fares quoted here are per person based on 2 people sharing; taxes, fees and port expenses are additional.

Celebrity Cruises offers 3 fare tiers: a base rate that lets you build your own inclusions; an All Inclusive fare that bundles a classic drinks package and basic Wi-Fi; and The Retreat, the premium tier covering suite accommodation, premium drinks, premium Wi-Fi, exclusive lounge and sundeck access, and private dining.

Whatever line you choose, our team can walk you through which fare tier suits your travelling style so you are not paying for inclusions you won’t use — or missing ones you will.

Are there discounts on Australia cruises?

A good number of sailings in this collection carry a reduced price — up to 47% off the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that particular departure, though that maximum applies to 1 sailing and most reduced fares are in the region of 8% off. It is worth checking individual sailings rather than assuming a page-wide sale: the discounts vary significantly by line, ship and travel date. Our team can identify which sailings currently carry a reduction when you call.

Make it a complete holiday

If you are local to the departure port, you can board the ship with no flight at all — by car, train or a short transfer from home. If you are travelling from another state, a domestic hop to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Fremantle is straightforward, and we can book that flight as part of your holiday package. For sailings that start or end internationally — in Singapore, Los Angeles, or elsewhere — we arrange the international flights, accommodation either side, transfers and any tours as a single booking under our Cruise1st Package.

Our Australian cruise experts are available seven days a week and our Best Price Guarantee means you are not left wondering whether you paid the right price. Everything goes on one booking, so nothing is left for you to sort out separately.

More ways to explore

If you have a specific port or line in mind, the pages below go deeper. Carnival cruises from Sydney and Easter 2027 cruises from Sydney are both popular searches. The Princess Cruises 2027–2028 season has opened with a strong Australian programme. Sydney-based travellers also search for Sydney round-trip sailings and value-priced departures from Sydney. Brisbane travellers will find dedicated options on the Brisbane 2027 cruises page. For sailings over the festive period, Royal Caribbean Christmas 2026 in Australia and Christmas cruises to New Zealand are both worth a look. The Australian-departures collection narrows things further to sailings that both start and finish in Australia. All of these sit under the broader cruise deals hub if you want to widen the search again.

Where a discount is shown, it is a reduction from the price previously listed for that cabin grade on that sailing, not a comparison between cabin grades or against a brochure rate. Discounts and prices shown are not kept up to date: the reduction available now may be smaller, or may have ended, and prices may have changed.
