Alaska Cruises

Cruising Alaska is your ticket to adventure around glaciers, wildlife and national parks. Cruise the last frontier in luxury onboard a cruise ship. We can tailormake your cruise with flights, hotel stays and tours, and rail journeys.

Best Time to Cruise

The cruise season in Alaska runs from May to September with the peak period being July to August. The temperatures in July and August tend to be warmer than most and the weather is generally sunnier and the days longer.

Alaskan Highlights

Alaskan highlights include Endicott Arm which is considered the jewel in Alaska's crown, is a thirty mile  waterway surrounded by cliffs, valleys and waterfalls. Sailing through Glacier Bay National Park is also a highlight with scenery simply not seen anywhere else. Other highlights include the gold mining town and capital of Alaska Juneau, the worlds oldest collection of totem poles in Ketchikan and a scenic rail journey in Skagway.

A lot of cruise lines now offer itineraries to Alaska including the below

  • Norwegian Cruise lines
  • Holland America
  • Princess Cruises
  • Royal Caribbean

Best Alaskan Routes

All Alaskan routes have highlights however these are probably the more popular ones. The Dawes Glacier route takes you from Seattle taking in ports of call such as Ketchikan. The Hubbard Glacier route sails from Vancouver mainly and features Icy Strait Point. The Northbound Glacier is good for extended voyages as it ends in Skagway and from here you can add on a cruisetour with the majority of cruise lines.

Why you should add a land tour to your cruise holiday

Cruise1st can tailor make any cruise itinerary you see with added land arrangements to ensure you have the holiday of a lifetime. Here's an example of the tours we offer:

In Alaska, we feature Rocky Mountaineer rail journeys and Denali National Park experiences to tie in with your cruise. Embark on an Alaska cruise from Vancouver and spend time in the city pre or post-cruise. Take a rail journey from Seattle or head inland to the mountains and overnight on a rail journey in Banff National Park, taking a summit helicopter tour (weather permitting, of course!).

Experience immense forests, mountain streams tumbling from great heights, and wildflowers of every colour imaginable. Those with a keen eye may spot a bear, moose, or even a bald eagle soaring overhead. With more than half the world's population of humpback whales living in the region, you’re sure to see the telltale spout of spray as they play in the deep waters of the Alaskan fjords. Cruise1st works with partners to identify a range of economic Alaska cruise deals exploring places including:

  • Ketchikan
  • Juneau
  • Skagway

From fishing villages to goldrush towns, an Alaska cruise feels like the true wilderness, and the wildlife encountered is second to none.
