Viking Mira is a 239-metre ocean ship carrying up to 998 guests, launched in 2026 as the latest addition to the Viking Cruises fleet. She sails under a Scandinavian design philosophy — understated, spacious and focused on destination immersion — with nearly every public venue open to all guests at no surcharge for entry.
Sailings depart from Barcelona, Athens (Piraeus), Rome (Civitavecchia), Venice, Bergen, Lisbon, Istanbul, Reykjavik, Greenwich (London) and Stockholm, making it straightforward to join her at a port that suits your travel plans.
Viking Mira offers seven distinct dining venues, ranging from the included main restaurant to intimate speciality experiences that carry a separate charge.
The Restaurant is the ship's main dining room, framed by floor-to-ceiling ocean windows and serving regional specialities and timeless classics — included in your cruise fare. World Café brings open kitchens and live cooking to a relaxed all-day setting, with premium sushi and seafood on offer, and opens directly onto the Aquavit Terrace® — billed as having more outdoor dining space at sea than any other ship, with the destination literally as your backdrop.
For something lighter, the Pool Grill serves casual, freshly prepared dishes poolside, and the Wintergarden hosts complimentary afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and live classical music beside the main pool. Mamsen's®, tucked inside the Explorers' Lounge, serves Norwegian specialities throughout the day at no extra cost — a nod to the Hagen family heritage behind Viking.
Two venues carry a separate charge and are worth reserving early. Manfredi's Italian Restaurant® recreates an authentic Italian trattoria, complete with an optional private dining room for special occasions. The Chef's Table presents a multi-course tasting menu with sommelier-paired wines, available in a private dining room on request. The Kitchen Table goes further still — an interactive culinary experience built around regional ingredients and local food culture, with pricing confirmed at booking.
Viking Mira's social spaces are designed around conversation, music and a sense of voyage — all free to enter, with beverages charged separately unless covered by a beverage package.
The Living Room anchors the heart of the ship: generous seating, a calm atmosphere, and live classical music from Viking's Resident Musicians. The adjacent Clinker Bar draws its design from ancient Nordic longships and sits within the Living Room atrium. Torshavn® leans into the golden age of jazz lounges with live music and cocktails, while the Explorers' Lounge offers two-storey panoramic ocean views from deep, comfortable seats — a favourite on sea days. The Atrium serves as a central meeting point for guests who prefer an open, social setting.
The Theater seats up to 450 and screens lectures, films and TED Talks on a large display; it can also be divided into two HD cinemas. Admission is included. On deck, the Sports Deck provides a running track, boccie, mini golf and shuffleboard — guided classes such as yoga carry a separate charge.
Viking Mira carries two distinct pool experiences and a full Nordic Spa, all included in the cruise fare for entry.
The main pool is heated and topped with a retractable roof — open for swimming in any weather, with a large poolside screen for evening films. The Infinity Pool is described as one of the first of its kind at sea: floor-to-ceiling windows dissolve the boundary between ship and ocean, and a hot tub and teak surround complete the picture. The Nordic Spa is an open wellness oasis — access is complimentary, though individual treatments are charged separately. The adjacent Fitness Centre provides treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes and free-weight space, with most use included in your fare. The Hair Salon rounds out the wellness offering with styling services charged individually.
Viking Mira's accommodation spans several grades, from veranda staterooms through to a full penthouse suite. Full deck plans are available on the Viking Mira cabins and deck plans page.
The Owner's Suite (OS) is the ship's largest accommodation at 134.5 m², configured as a true multi-room penthouse. It includes a separate bedroom, a living room, dining for six, a private library and an ocean-view dry sauna — sleeping up to three guests.
The Explorer Suite (ES2) measures 75.1 m² and is arranged across two rooms — a separate living area and a dining area seating four — giving two guests a genuinely apartment-like feel at sea.
The Penthouse Veranda Stateroom (PV) is the largest veranda stateroom on board at 33.4 m², including its private outdoor space, and sleeps two. It offers significantly more room than a standard veranda cabin for guests who want extra space without committing to a full suite.
Whatever grade you choose, Cruise1st's Australian cruise experts can walk you through the options, fare inclusions and what each cabin actually looks like in practice — call us seven days a week before you book.
Viking Mira's programme covers five broad regions, with the Mediterranean and Transatlantic routes making up the majority of the sailing calendar.
In the Mediterranean, she calls across the Western Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean — with departures from Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Athens (Piraeus), Venice and Istanbul. If you're planning around a specific port, browse cruises from Barcelona, cruises from Civitavecchia (Rome) or cruises from Venice to see every option.
Transatlantic crossings represent the single largest slice of the sailing calendar — see the full range on our Transatlantic cruises page. Norway itineraries depart from Bergen, and Arctic sailings use Reykjavik as a gateway. Portugal sailings round out the programme, with Lisbon as the key port.
For a search you can book from right now, the Mediterranean Cruises 2027 and All Inclusive Mediterranean Cruises 2027 pages show live availability and pricing. There are also Mediterranean cruise deals and offers updated regularly if budget is a priority.
Every Viking Mira sailing in our programme departs from a European port — Barcelona, Athens, Rome, Venice, Bergen, Lisbon, Istanbul, Reykjavik or Greenwich. For Australian travellers, that means the cruise is the centrepiece of a longer trip, and Cruise1st can package the whole journey: flights from Australia, hotels before or after you board, and transfers, all on a single booking through our Cruise1st Packages service.
Our Best Price Guarantee means you won't find the same sailing cheaper elsewhere through us. And because our Australian cruise experts are available seven days a week, you can talk through your options before you commit — not just fill in a form and wait.
If you're weighing up your options before committing, the ships below sail from the same European ports and cover much of the same ground — all bookable without an additional flight from the ports listed.
Silver Dawn (Silversea) sails from the same Mediterranean ports — Italy, Spain, France and Greece — and is a straight alternative with no extra flying required. Fares from A$5,200pp*.
EXPLORA I (Explora Journeys) covers similar ground across Italy, Spain, France and Greece, also departing from the same ports with no additional flight needed. Fares from A$4,535pp*.
Seabourn Ovation (Seabourn) shares the highest departure-port overlap of the three options and calls across Italy, Spain, France and Greece — again, no extra flight required. Fares from A$5,698pp*.
If you'd like to compare Viking Mira against other ships sailing under the same flag before deciding, Cruise1st also carries information on Viking Orion, Viking Venus, Viking Neptune, Viking Vali and Viking Magni.
The standard cruise fare includes dining at The Restaurant, World Café, Pool Grill, Aquavit Terrace, Mamsen's and Wintergarden, as well as entry to The Nordic Spa, the Fitness Centre, The Theater, the main pool and the Infinity Pool. The Living Room, Torshavn, Explorers' Lounge and Atrium are all open to every guest at no entry charge. Speciality dining at Manfredi's, The Chef's Table and The Kitchen Table, plus most beverages, spa treatments and fitness classes, are charged separately.
That depends on how much space and privacy matter to you. The Penthouse Veranda Stateroom at 33.4 m² is the most spacious balcony option for two guests who want extra room without a full suite. The Explorer Suite at 75.1 m² suits couples who genuinely use a separate living space. The Owner's Suite at 134.5 m² — with its private library, ocean-view sauna and dining for six — is for those who want a true penthouse experience. Our Australian cruise experts can help you match grade to budget; call seven days a week.
Yes — all sailings depart from European ports, so Australian travellers will need to fly. Cruise1st can arrange flights, pre- or post-cruise hotels and transfers as part of a single Cruise1st Package, so the whole trip is covered in one booking.
Sailings range from short Mediterranean voyages up to 35-night itineraries, covering the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, Transatlantic crossings, Norway, the Arctic and Portugal. The Mediterranean Cruises 2027 page and the Cruises from Barcelona 2027 and Cruises from Athens 2027 pages all show live, bookable results filtered by port and date.
