AmaSintra is a purpose-built Douro river ship, launched in 2023 and operated by AmaWaterways. She carries up to 104 guests looked after by a crew of 42, across 52 cabins on a hull stretching 79.2 metres. Dining on AmaSintra

Two included dining venues cover very different moods, and both are open to every guest at no extra charge.

The Main Restaurant is the culinary heart of the ship — an elegant, open-seating space where regional cuisine is served with river views. Because seating is flexible rather than assigned, meals here naturally become a chance to meet fellow travellers. The Chef's Table offers something more theatrical: a dedicated chef prepares a multi-course tasting menu in front of a small group, in an intimate setting that combines fine dining with live culinary craft. Both restaurants are fully included in your cruise fare.

Away from the table, a Specialty Coffee & Tea Station operates on a self-service basis throughout the day, at no charge, so your morning espresso or afternoon tea is always on hand.

Bars, lounges and onboard life

The Main Lounge is where the ship's social life happens. A fully stocked bar sits at its centre, and the space doubles as a venue for port talks by day and live entertainment in the evening. Drinks and food here are charged separately unless you are on a beverage package.

The Sun Deck runs the length of the upper deck and gives unobstructed views of the Douro valley as you pass through it — the ideal spot to watch the terraced vineyards slide by. On the same deck, a heated pool with an integrated swim-up bar lets you stay cool without leaving the water.

For quieter moments, the ship carries a library stocked with books and games, and a gift shop for souvenirs and essentials.

Staying active on AmaSintra

The Fitness Centre is open to all guests and equipped with modern cardio and strength-training machines; use of the equipment is complimentary, though any specialist classes carry a separate charge. The Sun Deck also has a walking track for guests who prefer exercise in the open air.

One of AmaSintra's most practical inclusions is the complimentary bicycle fleet. At every port of call, guests can borrow a bike and explore independently — no guided tour required, no extra cost. It is a particularly well-suited feature for the Douro, where many of the villages along the riverbank reward a gentle ride through their streets.

The Massage & Hair Salon is available for those who would rather unwind than work out; access is free, while individual treatments and services are charged separately.

Cabins and suites on AmaSintra

The Suite S is the largest accommodation on board at 30 m², with a private balcony and space for up to four guests. If you are travelling as a family or simply want room to spread out, this is the grade to consider.

The Balcony Cabin A covers 20 m² and sleeps two. It is the largest of the balcony cabin grades, offering five more square metres of floor space than the outside-window category — a meaningful difference in a river ship context.

The Outside Cabin D is a 15 m² outside-view cabin for two, positioned on the lowest passenger deck with a panoramic fixed window. It delivers natural light and river views without the balcony premium, and is a strong choice for guests who plan to spend most of their time on deck or ashore.
