For over 25 years, Aurora Expeditions has led small-group, expedition-style travel to the world’s most spectacular and remote wilderness areas. Guided by a world-class expedition team, Aurora Expeditions leads small groups of intrepid travelers to Antarctica, the Arctic, and beyond. Passengers can take part in multiple daily excursions, including Zodiac cruises, shore landings and for the truly adventurous, an added option to kayak, snorkel, mountaineer and more (Surcharge applies)!
In 2019, Aurora Expeditions will redefine expedition cruising with the launch of their first purpose-built expedition vessel, the Greg Mortimer, a ship inspired by the pioneering spirit of their co-founder.
It will be built with the latest in naval technology, like the innovative X-BOW, a revolutionary feature that will provide improved stability in rough seas, faster transit speeds and a reduced environmental impact, protecting some of the most vulnerable environments in the world.
Expedition Cruising With Aurora Expeditions
Custom-designed hydraulic platforms folding out from deck five offer a chance to get close to breaching whales or curious polar bears, and a variety of indoor and outdoor observation areas around the ship mean that you’ll not miss a single moment.
Designed by expeditioners for expeditioners, it offers efficient loading from both the four sea-level Zodiac platforms and the purpose-built activity platform. This means that passengers can get ashore quickly and easily, making the most of your time in the incredible destinations that we visit.
Introducing The Brand New Ship - Greg Mortimer
Aurora Expeditions is excited to launch their first purpose-built expedition vessel, set to sail in late 2019. This provides an ideal ship to for an Actic or Antarctica cruise.
Key features of the Aurora Expeditions Greg Mortimer Vessel include:
- Accommodates a maximum of 120 passengers in the Polar regions
- Environmentally friendly X-Bow, an inverted bow concept to tackle adverse weather conditions
- Hydraulic viewing platforms, located at the ships bow allowing for unobstructed view of passing marine life and seabirds
- 4 Sea-level, Zodiac launching platforms allowing for quick and easy embarkation/disembarkation
- Custom built activity preparation area will allow for easy access to adventure activities
- Observation lounge on deck 8 provides panoramic views of passing wildlife
- Custom designed mudroom
