Viking Eldir launched in 2026 as one of Viking River Cruises' newest additions, built to carry 190 guests attended by 53 crew across 95 cabins. At 135 metres in length, she is purpose-built for Europe's inland waterways, combining the intimacy of river travel with a thoughtfully designed roster of spaces. Current sailings reach up to 21 nights and cover three rivers: the Rhine, the Danube and the Main, calling at ports from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Bucharest in Romania. Dining on Viking Eldir

Viking Eldir carries seven distinct dining venues, ranging from a fully included main restaurant to specialist experiences where reservations and à la carte charges apply.

The Restaurant is the main dining room, positioned aft with floor-to-ceiling windows and a menu built around regional specialities and timeless classics — all included in your cruise fare. For something more casual, the World Café operates open kitchens with live cooking, premium sushi and seafood, and direct access to the Aquavit Terrace® so you can eat outdoors as the riverbanks pass. The Pool Grill keeps poolside meals relaxed and unfussy, with freshly prepared dishes and a salad bar, also included in your fare.

Afternoon tea in the Wintergarden — finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and international teas accompanied by the onboard musician — is complimentary and a highlight of quieter days aboard. Mamsen's®, situated in the Explorers' Lounge, brings authentic Norwegian specialities to every meal period at no extra cost.

For a more involved evening, The Chef's Table presents a multi-course tasting menu with sommelier-paired wines in the restaurant or a private dining room — reservations required, à la carte pricing applies. Manfredi's Italian Restaurant® takes a trattoria approach to regional Italian classics and also offers a private dining room, with cover charges applicable. Bars and social spaces

Viking Eldir's social heart is The Living Room, where generous seating, a calm atmosphere and live classical music from the Viking Resident Musicians make it a natural place to unwind between ports. Entry is free; beverages are charged separately unless included in your package. Adjacent to it, the Bar — the Clinker Bar in the Living Room atrium — evokes a Nordic longship in its design and serves as an atmospheric spot for a drink.

Torshavn® channels the golden age of jazz lounges, with live music and a cocktail list to match. The two-storey panoramic windows of the Explorers' Lounge frame the passing river scenery while you settle in with friends. And the Atrium provides a central meeting point where conversations flow as easily as the cocktails — beverages charged separately in each case.

Pools, wellness and activities

Viking Eldir carries two pools. The Main Pool is heated and sheltered by a retractable roof, making it usable year-round; in the evenings it doubles as an outdoor cinema with a large poolside screen. The Infinity Pool features floor-to-ceiling windows that dissolve the boundary between the ship and its surroundings, with a hot tub alongside and the Aquavit Terrace® for open-air dining in the evenings.

The Nordic Spa is open to all guests at no additional cost, with a sauna and snow grotto for recovery after active days ashore — individual treatments carry a separate charge. The Fitness Centre is fully equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines, exercise bikes and free-weight space; equipment use is complimentary, though some fitness classes are charged separately. The Hair Salon offers cuts, styling and the Royal Nordic Hair Ritual, with services priced individually.

On deck, the Sports Deck carries a running track alongside boccie, mini golf and shuffleboard — free to use, with guided sessions such as yoga charged separately.

Entertainment on Viking Eldir

The Theater seats up to 450 guests and screens lectures, films and TED Talks; its modern facilities can also be configured as two separate HD cinemas depending on the programme. Admission is included in your cruise fare throughout.

Cabins on Viking Eldir

• Explorer Suite (ES) — at 41.3 m², the most spacious grade aboard, defined by a wraparound veranda offering 270-degree river views. This is the most expansive outdoor space on the ship and the grade best suited to guests who want uninterrupted sightseeing from their suite.
• Veranda Stateroom (A) — 19.0 m² with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a private veranda. Your own outdoor space to take in the passing countryside at your own pace.
• French Balcony Stateroom (C) — 12.5 m², with glass doors that open to bring in fresh air and river views without a step-out balcony — a practical and well-priced way to stay connected to the scenery.
