Located in the Valparaiso Region, San Antonio is the busiest port on the western coast of South America. The main activities within this commune are fishing excursions and trips to the surrounding vineyards and national parks. The Cockburn Channel is part of the Tierra del Fuego region at the very end of the South American Continent overlooking the Antarctic Ocean. It is connected to the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel.

The Magellan Strait is a strait with numerous islands and side channels which connects the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is located between the South American mainland and the island of Tierra del Fuego and has been a Chilean territory since 1881.
