The city of Fort Lauderdale in the U.S. state of Florida and makes an ideal holiday destination. Due to the many canals in the city, Fort Lauderdale is also known as the American Venice. In the 1970's, the area was very popular with students celebrating Spring Break but these were replaced by cruise vacationers in recent years. Fort Lauderdale offers beautiful beaches, museums, the world's biggest everyday flea market and also the world's largest drive-in cinema, which has 13 screens.

Royal Naval Dockyard was the principal base of the Royal Navy in the Western Atlantic between American independence and the Cold War. In 1957 most of the base closed down and the dockyard became a major port of entry into the island. The keep area is now the site of the Bermuda Maritime Museum and the Dolphin Quest attraction.

The peninsula of Portland is located in the south of England. Portland Harbour, since it's inception was home to a Royal Navy base until 1995 and is still one of the biggest man-made harbours in the world, and was used as part of the 2012 Olympic Games. The area is also known for Portland Stone, a special stone quarried here used in St Paul's Cathedral and United Nations Headquarters. Portland has always been a place of significance throughout history and so there is certainly something for everyone to discover here.

The second largest port in France can be found in Le Havre, a town in the northwest of the country. With almost 180,000 inhabitants, Le Havre is the largest town in Normandy. Local attractions include the city centre, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, the Church of St. Joseph, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Bridge of Normandy. The 'Pont de Normandie' with a span of 856m is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Europe.

Dover is a historical port town in Kent, South East England. The town is located at the narrowest part of the English channel, looking over the strait of Dover towards France. Its spectacular, extraordinary chalky white cliffs are for many immigrants their first glimpse of the UK. The cliffs, along with the imposing hilltop 12th century Dover Castle and its secret wartime tunnels leave visitors awe-struck, with much to ponder long after they leave.

Agadir is a resort city in southwest Morocco with a population of over 600,000 people. A devastating earthquake struck in 1960 and destroyed the city, including most of the historic sites. One of the few survivors is the hilltop kasbah's original wall, the rest of Agadir had to be completely rebuilt. Today, the city is Morocco's biggest and most popular seaside resort. With only a handful of sights, a shiny white marina and a long sandy beach it is perfect for families wanting to get away from it all and relax.
