Roatán is a Caribbean Bay Island that floats about 60 kilometres north of mainland Honduras. Together with its sister islands of Roatán, they make up the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world, which is home to diverse marine life, such as whale sharks.

Puerto Limon is Costa Rica's biggest port city on the Caribbean coast. The city's port is very busy all year round, the ships are transporting truckloads of fruit and other goods. Although, cruise ships stop for a visit regularly between October and May, Puerto Limon is not as welcoming and pampering to its tourists as one would hope.
