The third member of Royal Caribbean’s stunning Quantum Class fleet, Ovation of the Seas, is set to make its maiden call in Australia. As you’d expect from the fourth biggest cruise ship in the world, with a capacity of 4,905 guests and 1,500 crew members, it has an amazing range of features just waiting for you onboard.
As the third member of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class of ships, it is little surprise that Ovation of the Seas has the same focus on new and innovative technologies. All the latest innovations have been employed on this state-of-the-art cruise ship, to create a thrilling experience for every passenger. From exciting, once-in-a-lifetime activities to tasting the future as you’re served drinks by robot bartenders, there is a way for everyone to enjoy the pioneering advancements aboard the Ovation of the Seas.
The 300ft-high, NorthStar observation pod is just one example of this – a towering gondola that lifts high above the ship so passengers can drink in the surrounding views. It has two functions, one which raises it straight upwards, and another which swings out over the side of the ship for a panoramic view.
Two70°, the ship’s futuristic entertainment venue, is another area where innovative technology has been used to delight Ovation the Sea’s passengers. The venue’s windows become 22ft-high screens that form the background to the outstanding shows which take place here, creating a fully immersive experience. Robot screens are also used to create lifelike motion, interacting with performers in unique ways. If these two innovations are not quite futuristic enough, head down to the Bionic Bar, where robot bartenders create cocktails to your exact specifications.
Ovation of the Seas has also gone above and beyond when it comes to creating luxurious private accommodation. The ship boasts the largest staterooms of all Royal Caribbean’s fleet, with no detail overlooked in creating a truly five-star experience. Both the cabins and staterooms have been decorated with the finest fabrics, creating an atmosphere of opulence and relaxation no matter where onboard you stay. Each room also benefits from a balcony, some of which are physical and others of which are virtual, meaning you’ll never have to miss a sunset.
The stunning array of food on offer is one of the great joys of cruising, and Ovation of the Seas is no different. With a range of restaurants for every occasion, from relaxed cafes to formal restaurants, you will want to try them all during your time onboard.
Some special additions have been made to Ovation of the Seas in celebration of their visit to China, giving you a wonderful chance to try some beautiful Asian foods. Silk restaurant serves heavenly pan-Asian fare, with dishes drawing inspiration from Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine. Dishes such as the sake-glazed salmon, and ginger and sesame-crusted tuna offer the chance to sample the stunning core flavours of increasingly popular East Asian food. Kung Fu Panda’s Noodle Bar has replaced the usual Jonny Rockets on Ovation of the Seas, offering a great place to grab a quick and delicious Asian meal on the go.
When it comes to activities, ovation of the Seas has got it all. Royal Caribbean recently beat Disney Cruises to the title of best cruise line for families, and when you’re aboard the Ovation it isn’t hard to see why. The H20 Zone is packed full of shallow pools, slides and water cannons so that young children can safely enjoy playing outside in the sun. When the weather isn’t as great, kids can visit Adventure Ocean, which offers a range of exciting activities such as treasure hunts, video games, arts and crafts, and even putting on talent shows. Older kids will adore the chance to escape and make new friends at the Fuel Teen Disco, perfect for keeping them entertained in the evenings.
For the grownups, Ovation of the Seas is packed with thrills. As well as theatres showing films and live entertainment, there are a variety of exciting activities that will get your heart pounding. The RipCord iFly is an innovative wind machine that lets you experience the thrill of skydiving without having to work up the courage to leap out of a plane. It shoots you up above the ship in a glass wind tunnel, allowing you to enjoy the adrenaline rush and stunning views of flying. If you’ve always fancied yourself as a cool surfer, you can try out the FlowRider surf simulator, which recreates the experience of surfing the waves, whether you sit down, kneel, or stand up on your board.
