Brand New P&O Australia Ship Set for Launch in 2017

P&O Australia has recently announced details of its latest vessel, Pacific Explorer, which will launch as part of its permanent Aussie cruise fleet in early 2017.

Currently sailing under the Princess Cruises’ livery as Dawn Princess, the new ship will receive a complete multi-million dollar dry dock upgrade to bring its décor and facilities in line with P&O’s other new fleet additions, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, which launched earlier this month.

Upon its launch, Pacific Explorer will take the P&O Australia fleet to a total of six ships — boosting its total guest capacity by 2,000 passengers. Like its predecessors Aria and Eden, Explorer will feature a unique array of dining experiences, including Angelo’s Italian, Dragon Lady and the Waterfront Restaurant — giving passengers one of the most varied culinary offerings at sea.

The ship will also incorporate a varied mix of new entertainment concepts which P&O claim will excite, surprise and stimulate those cruising aboard.

Sture Myrmell, senior vice president of P&O Cruises Australia, enthused: “Just as we’re welcoming Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden to the P&O fleet, we’re thrilled to have another ship on the horizon that will continue the exciting evolution of our modern Australian cruise product. We have grand plans for Pacific Explorer and we think her new features are going to cause a lot of excitement in the local industry.”

Weighing in at 77,000 tonnes, Pacific Explorer is continuing P&O Australia’s recent tradition of introducing smaller, more exclusive ocean liners to its fleet in a bid to offer a more sophisticated, elegant cruise experience. The ship will offer around 400 balcony staterooms, as well as a duo of pools catering to families and couples respectively.

Pacific Explorer is due to launch Down Under in early 2017. Until then, you can keep up to date with the very latest news and information from P&O via the Cruise1st Australia news channel.
