Demonstrating their ever-increasing dedication to the Australian cruise industry, Princess Cruises have announced the Emerald Princess is to relocate to Sydney from November 2016 for its first ever season down under.
The Emerald Princess will become the youngest member of the Princess Cruises fleet to be based out of Australia, joining older sisters Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Sun Princess and Diamond Princess. The deployment will make the ship one of the largest ships to serve Australia and New Zealand.
Relocating the Emerald Princess to Australia will make it Princess Cruises’ second biggest market after the United States. With a total of five ships and 11,800 berths, Princess Cruises are recognising Australia as one of the world’s fastest growing cruise market and demonstrating the belief that the market will continue to grow.
Launched in 2007, the Emerald Princess began life offering cruises around the Mediterranean and Greek Islands before relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to host Caribbean cruises. The ship plays host to four swimming pools, 13 dining venues, eight showrooms, two nightclubs, and Princess Cruises’ famous Movies Under the Stars top deck cinema.
Stuart Allison, Princess Cruises Vice President for Australia & New Zealand, enthused: “With three ships cruising our waters full time and two mega-liners visiting for the summer, the 2016 season will offer more exciting options for Australian and New Zealand cruisers.”
It is anticipated that cabins aboard the Emerald Princess’ Australian cruises will go on sale in April following the announcement of new, exciting itineraries in March.
