On December 21st 2013, Crystal Symphony will embark upon a magical winter wonderland cruise through the Antarctic.
Holidaymakers will spend this festive period sailing for three days through Antarctic waters, as well as touring the ports of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Falkland Islands, Drake Passage, Cape Horn and the Chilean Fjords. There will also be multiple excursions available for passengers who wish to explore Antarctica.
Crystal is one of a limited number of cruise lines allowed to sail to Antarctica, due to the strict environmental regulations. Speaking about this, Anita Hodson, Crystal’s director of nautical and port operations. says:
“We are always very environmentally conscious of the destinations we visit. We’re thrilled to be able to meet the new standards required to bring guests to this spectacular region this year.”
During their holiday, guests will enjoy flying, hiking and ‘zodiacing’ on the icy continent. They’ll be able to view Air Force homes, penguin breeding grounds and of course, gorgeous glacial landscapes.
The exclusive “Crystal Adventures” programme also gives passengers the opportunity to enjoy more of Antarctica, taste local specialities and stay overnight at the Chilean Eduardo Frei Antarctic Base (INACH).
During the 18-day cruise, holidaymakers will enjoy exploring the abundance of nature on offer at all ports: from volcanoes to waterfalls, from humpback whales to marine elephants and more. Onboard, Crystal has booked notable speakers who will talk on topics such as Antarctic expeditions, climate change and shark conservation – that’s just for starters! Guests can also explore wine, food and culture in the major South American cities on the itinerary.
The ship will make calls at the following ports: Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Puerto Madryn, Port Stanley, Ushuaia (overnight), Punta Arenas, Puerto Montt, and Valparaíso.
For those who wish to avoid a white Christmas and holiday somewhere a little more tropical, sister ship Crystal Serenity is sailing a roundtrip from Miami on December 21, to the Turks & Caicos; Curaçao; Santa Marta and Cartagena, Colombia; Roatan Island, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Key West, Florida.
