P&O Cruises extends its view of Down Under in 2014

P&O Cruises launches its extended 2014 itinerary, which will include a maiden visit to Kangaroo Island, Port Lincoln and Robe in South Australia. In addition, an extra ship will sail from Brisbane and there will be different cruises departing from Melbourne.

Papua New Guinea and Queensland’s Moreton Island were added to their itinerary in 2013, and they will be further visits in 2014.

After launch on 22 October, the winter programme offered 75 cruises from Brisbane, Auckland, Syndey and Melbourne.

P&O’s two sister ships Pacific Jewel and Pacific Dawn will meet up in Brisbane for 34 winter sailings from Queensland. Pacific Pearl will be making its inaugural visit to Melbourne and also sailing from Sydney and Auckland.

Cruises from Melbourne include the first visit to Kangaroo Island, Robe and Port Lincoln starting from just $849 for six nights leaving on 18th April 2014. The geology of this area is unique and one-third of Kangaroo Island is protected and therefore the wildlife is stunning with penguins, brush-tailed possums, wallabies and of course kangaroos! Guests will have the opportunity to visit Port Lincoln, which is renowned for its delicious seafood.

The following week on 24th April, there will be a five-night cruise from Melbourne over to the Apple Isle via Burnie, Hobart and Port Arthur at a cost of just $649 per person.

These shorter cruises will be incorporated into the longer P&O Sea Australia cruises such as the 11 night Melbourne round-trip cruise for $1349 and just $1649 for a 15 night Sydney round-trip cruise.

During 2013 P&O Cruises returned to Papua New Guinea and these visits proved very successful. Following on from this, in September 2014, the cruise line will be offering further 10 night cruises from Brisbane and an eleven-night cruise from Sydney. The ships will be breaking off at Milne Bay, giving guests the opportunity to visit Alotau, Doini and Trobriand Islands. Prices start from an amazing $1199 per person.
P&O will continue offering short break cruises with over 20 trips of two to four nights departing from Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane. These tend to be the specialist cruises offering Food and Wine, Lifestyle or comedy cruises giving guests the opportunity to meet like-minded people to spend their time with. These SeaBreaks are from just $449 per person so ideal for those who would like to have a cruise taster.

P&O have a new Pacific Island destination in Mare, one of the Loyalty Islands. These beautiful mystical islands offer long white sand beaches, edged with gloriously clear lagoons and mythical cliff formations which in the main have been untouched by man. Mare will be visited by cruisers on Pacific Jewel’s 7-night itinerary.

P&O have renamed their groups of cruises by their destinations with P&O SeaBreaks, P&O Islands and P&O Explorers to make finding your perfect cruise just that little bit easier!

Could you please tell me the date that the P&O Cruise ship will be visiting Robe SA? I’ve never been on a cruise ship but am planning to make amends for that next year. I’m in my 60’s & have had a few friends say that a cruise is the best holiday ever-time I tried it for myself!!! Thanks. Chris

We were going to travel from Horsham to Adelaide by car then on to Port Lincoln taking the car on the ferry (instead of driving to Port Augusta ) next month but the ferry is being serviced so have decided on a different holiday this year but would be keep to find out more about the cruise from Melbourne.
