Cruisers on Crystal Symphony’s cruise “Koalas & Kiwis” will be travelling through some of the hottest destinations in Australia and New Zealand in January next year. One of the hottest guests on-board will be Tokyo super chef Luca Fantin. He will be joining the cruise as a guest expert on the Wine & Food voyage, along with Chef Damien Pignolet, Master Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim and wine expert Eugenio Jardim.
The eclectic mix of Aussie-Kiwi food will be represented with Fantin’s Japanese roots and his love for contemporary Italian food, alongside Pignolet’s French-Aussie fusions. Crystal Cruises specialist tours include live cooking demonstrations, distinctive menus and the two chefs will be showing some lucky guests how to prepare their specialities. Wine guru Jardim will give advice on putting together wines that will compliment your food and the increased popularity of cocktails will be catered for by mixologist Abou-Ganim.
On the itinerary are visits to the Morpeth and Hunter Valley in Newcastle for olives, traditional cheeses, vodka and gourmet wine and dining.
Cooking lessons don’t come much more ‘local’ than Christchurch’s ‘Catch of the Day’ with the ingredients being supplied by the fishermen on the quayside.
Greytown and Martinborough are locations for a three course lunch, and sampling the wine and olive oil in the vineyards of the area sounds like a pretty good idea.
“Australia and New Zealand are fantastic destinations for foodies” says Crystal’s Vice President of Food and Beverage, Toni Neumeister. “We are thrilled to welcome such a high calibre of food and beverage experts aboard to underscore the tremendous flavour of the itinerary”.
The Koalas and Kiwis tour calls in at Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland and from just $3,520 per person, this has to be one of the best value cruises available in 2013.
Remarkable gastronomic experiences are definitely a speciality of Crystal Cruises with the luxury ships providing fresh gourmet options throughout the day. Their wine cellars offer a broad variety of options with guidance from on-board Master Sommeliers as to the perfect option for the menu. Fresh cocktails dreamt up by certified mixologists will tantalise your tastebuds and for the non-drinkers afternoon tea is a something of an occasion.
All in all, a wonderful gastronomical experience awaits you on a Crystal Cruise voyage. And don’t worry about piling on those extra pounds: there’s a fabulous onboard gym to discover, or treat yourself to a nice gentle stroll around the deck.
