Holland America’s ms Prinsendam emerges from dry-dock with brand new restaurant & enclosed Wintergarden

Last week Holland America Line bosses announced a number of changes onboard the popular ms Prinsendam, after the ship emerged from dry-dock in Freeport, in the Bahamas.

Alongside  a number of smaller cosmetic enhancements, the ship was given the addition of a casual Italian restaurant named “Canaletto”, plus the ship’s Lido Terrace was transformed into an enclosed Wintergarden.

Speaking about the new enhancements, Richard Meadows, the executive vice president of marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Line said:

“We continue to invest in our fleet and the onboard experience to offer the best premium cruise experience.  Prinsendam has one of our most loyal followings, so the new Wintergarden and popular Canaletto will certainly be appreciated by our guests”.

About the Canaletto restaurant:

The Canaletto restaurant has been added to all 15 of the ships in Holland America’s fleet after proving popular and successful with diners. ms Prinsendam is the most recent and final ship to receive the upgrade.

Canaletto, which was named after the famous 18th-century Venetian artist, serves award winning classic Italian fare and offers a table-side service for dinner only.  Reserving tables is a must as this popular restaurant gets busy most evenings.  Tables can be reserved for a small fee of $10.

The Canaletto menu comprises of a range of popular and tasty dishes that Italian food fans will love. Diners will start the evening with the chef’s selection of antipasti before embarking upon three courses – il primo, il secondo, and il dolci.  Each course is carefully selected to focus on fresh and authentic Italian cuisine.  From Tuscan country soup to good old fashioned spaghetti with meatballs; from Toscana flank steak to Venetian-style upside down apple and walnut pie.  There’s plenty to choose from –  yum!

About the Wintergarden:

Prinsendam’s Lido Terrace was remodelled into a covered Wintergarden, which enabled bosses to increase the seating area of the adjacent Lido restaurant, plus give a home to the Canaletto restaurant.
