Holland America Line release new itineraries for 2013

Holland America has announced that its’ seven ships will be sailing over 107 departures on over 53 different itineraries next year.  They will be covering a massive area from Norway to the Black Sea and right over the Mediterranean.

Cruising in Europe is definitely on the increase and this is encouraging the region to open new ports to cater for the larger cruise ships.  Holland America are proud to be taking advantage of this and are offering cruises that range from 7 to 64 days calling in the more traditional ports, but also the new smaller ports located in fascinating, less well known cities.

New routes include the following:-

Adriatic Explorer on board Noordam.  Another 11 day cruise, this time from Civitavecchia (Rome) calling in at the ports of Venice and Piraeus (Athens) on overnight stops to allow guests to take time to explore these culturally rich cities.  The other ports reflect a mixture of ports that were home to the Roman and Greek empires.

Ancient Mysteries Voyage on board Noordam.  An 11 day cruise from Piraeus (Athens) to Istanbul with calls at Port Said in Egypt to see the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx or the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.  An overnight stay in Istanbul gives cruisers a chance to explore the Turkish Bazaars renowned for their exotic spices and other Turkish delicacies.

Mediterranean Explorer on Prinsendam.  A 16 day cruise from Barcelona around to Piraeus (Athens).  This is one of the new routes that take in newly accessible ports such as Sète and Toulon in France, Igoumenitsa and Hydra in Greece and Brindisi in Italy.  It also visits the old favourite ports of Turkey, Kotor, Rhodes and Montenegro.

Other unique opportunities with Holland America include crossing the Arctic Circle, cruising down the Gironde Estuary to visit Bordeaux and transiting the Kiel Canal in Germany.  An overnight stay at the beautiful port of Santa Cruiz de Tenerife gives you chance to take an excursion up the world’s third largest volcano.  Their Icelandic Adventure give you the chance to take a dip in the famous “Blue Lagoon”, a seawater geothermal and stay overnight in Reykjavik aboard Prinsendam.

With their other ships running on the more traditional routes through Europe, and longer 14 to 33 days trips, cruisers can choose whether to go with an old favourite or try one of the new routes.  Either way, passengers are guaranteed a fantastic cruising experience with Holland America.
