Celebrity chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian will bring his culinary experience to Norwegian Getaway.
Zakarian will be overseeing the opening of his new seafood restaurant onboard the ship, fittingly named Ocean Blue. The restaurant is housed in the newest ship in the Norwegian line, Norwegian Getaway, which from the start of 2014 will be sailing from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean. The restaurant is situated in the heart of the ship and so will be a popular attraction for holidaymakers. Diners will be able to sample delicious food within the spectacular atmosphere of the ship’s hub, a three-decked space that is full of special outdoor spaces enhancing the dining experience.
In the Ocean Blue restaurant, passengers will be able to dine on a range of delicious seafood options from the menu. Geoffrey Zakarian has used all his experience and talent, already invested in his restaurants on land, to the three restaurants he has with Norwegian: Ocean Blue on The Waterfront, The Raw Bar and Ocean Blue. Zakarian has been hands on in the creation of these new restaurants, and has had input from everything from the food itself to the menus and uniforms. Furthermore, on certain voyages the famous chef will be onboard himself to ensure that diners have a fantastic experience in his establishments. He will also be holding cooking demonstrations for those looking to pick up some of his valuable skills.
“I am thrilled to announce that the Ocean Blue concept we developed for Norwegian Breakaway will also have a home on her Miami-based sister ship, Norwegian Getaway…I am so proud of the concept, menus and décor of this restaurant and am excited to bring my sense of hospitality to guests cruising to the Eastern Caribbean from Miami on Norwegian Getaway.”
