To some, cruising is defined by ships of monumental proportions, extravagant on-board experiences and thousands of fellow passengers. But any Star Clippers sailor will testify that a voyage on one of the line’s three luxury tall ships is an experience entirely of its own. Now, the line has expanded its line-up of incredible destinations and added Indonesia to its ports of call.
Bound for Bali, and beyond
From May – September 2017, flagship vessel Star Clipper will complete 19 voyages departing from Bali and Singapore. They range from 10, 11 and 14 nights, and whisk passengers away to an exotic world of turquoise seas, sandy beaches, fresh coconuts and of course, a never-ending supply of world-famous Indonesian smiles.
“The Indonesian waters will really bring out the very best of a Star Clippers cruise and the natural scenery and spectacular sights will provide an exceptional back-drop for our beautiful ship, Star Clipper,” explained company founder and owner Mikael Krafft.
Shining the spotlight on Indonesia’s natural beauty
The itineraries feature an inspired selection of activities and experiences, designed to showcase the delights of the Southeast Asian nation. Nature buffs will jump at the chance to get up close and personal with 10-foot-long Komodo Dragons, the largest lizards on the planet. For culture enthusiasts, the opportunity to see the lofty bows, twin masts and seven fluttering sails of traditional handcrafted Indonesian wooden Pinisi sailing ships is a must. Not to mention plenty of time to stock up on souvenirs at vibrant markets, marvel at the natural beauty of Satonda’s soaring volcanic mountains, take on towering Mount Bromo and explore a colourful underwater world in Marine National Park. Bali’s Pura Ulun Danu Bratan water temple is a spiritual mecca, as is world-famous Buddhist monument, the Borobudur Temple Compound.
“Guests will enjoy the most memorable sailings in some of the most beautiful waters in the world, while daytime activities will be eclectic, exotic and each day will bring opportunities for new adventures,” said Mikael.
After a hard day soaking up the quirks of Indonesia, passengers can retreat back to the Star Clipper for a well-deserved sundowner. Bubby, vino or a craft cocktail… The choice is yours!
