Why cruise to Alaska?

Alaska is a huge place – more than double the size of Texas, yet home to around 700,000 people. Just 20% of the state is accessible by road. All this is because the place is just covered in wilderness – trees, rivers and mountains. It’s a fantastic cruise destination for anyone who loves sightseeing and unique experiences.

As you might expect with all that greenery, there’s a wealth of wildlife living here. If you’re lucky you’ll see Kodiak Brown Bears, bald eagles, mooses and more.

Alaska is also home to 17 of the 20 tallest mountains in all of North America. Even if you don’t like the idea of scaling them, you’ll appreciate the view from a distance! Mt. McKinley, also known as Denali (‘The Great One’) is the tallest – towering at 20,320 feet.

Ice only covers 5% of Alaska’s total surface, but there are more than 100,000 glaciers. Many of these are in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, including seven which flow down into the sea. They really are some of the most fascinating sights you’ll see on any trip.

And if you find yourself in need of some home comforts during your time away, then take advantage of no sales tax! Alaska has one of the lowest overall tax burdens in the US, so shopping here won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
