While there are some great cruise deals out there, it still stings when you have to fork out extra cash on expensive cruise port parking. To help you out, we’ve come up with some great ideas to help you avoid getting stung with fees in excess of $20 per day.
1) Stay and Cruise Packages:
Many port based hotels will offer free parking for the length of your cruise in return for a night’s stay at their hotel. This means you can start your holiday early and save on parking!
2) Park off-site:
If you do your research, you are likely to find relatively convenient off-site parking at around 50% less than what it would cost at port. Some sites even offer a free shuttle!
3) Check out message boards:
If you want to save your money for poolside cocktails and shore excursions, why not check out popular websites such as CruiseCritic , Meet On Cruise, and Cruise-Addicts? Each has a meet and greet feature where you can connect with fellow cruisers and see if you can arrange car-pooling transport which means big savings on parking costs!
4) Contact your friends:
If you’re on a social network, try posting a status asking if any friends live nearby to your departure port. If so, it could be a great opportunity for free parking. You may be hesitant to ask but in the long run it could save you a lot of cash so don’t be shy!
Armed with these thrifty tips, your wallet will be that little bit fuller when you board your next cruise!
