Princess Cruises have announced their amazing ‘under the stars’ entertainment development on their new 3,600 guest cruise ship currently under construction – Royal Princess.
Featuring a SeaWalk, extended pool areas, dancing fountains, a unique Evening Light Show and even movies under the stars, Jan Swartz their Executive Vice President is looking forward to the reveal of the new ship.
“We’re placing even more emphasis on our outdoor entertainment options with this new ship. With all of these exciting features on the top decks, passengers will truly enjoy their time under the sun — or stars.”
— Jan Swartz – Executive Vice President
The dramatic Sea Walk is a 60 ft long glass bottomed walkway which seemingly hovers around 128 ft above the sea. As it extends 28 ft out from the starboard side of the ship, passengers will have an amazing feeling of stepping out over the ocean to see unrivalled views of the waves. The idea for this came from the bridge of the ship where the captain can look through the glass paneled floor for an up-to-date view of the sea conditions. The aptly named Sea View Bar also spreads itself across the waves for the opportunity to view and drink the blue lagoon!
Alongside the SeaWalk are tranquil areas with palm trees and an island surrounded by fresh water pools which during the day has circular loungers, bar stools and tables and chaise lounges to relax in. There will also be plush private poolside cabanas that appear to be floating on the water for those wanting a little more seclusion.
Live music and entertainment inspired by the cruise location will be held in this poolside area. In the evenings Royal Princess’s top deck will be lit with fantastic mood lighting effect and the island lying between the pools will be transformed into a stage for the Water and Light show. With computerised dancing fountains from over 85 water jets and co-ordinated lighting and sound, guest will be astounded as the fountains extend 33 ft up into the dark night sky.
Taking the outdoor movie idea to the extreme, Royal Princess will have a screen over 30 percent larger than usual and the latest audio and visual systems for a remarkable open-air experience. Snuggle up on a chaise lounge with complimentary pillows, blankets and even free popcorn to set the mood. For the ultimate in luxury, water babies can relax in the whirlpool spas to watch the Movies under the Stars.
For the more energetic guests, the island has a makeover for the Ultimate Deck Party on selected cruises. The balcony for the DJ’s setup two decks up, will give them a birds eye view to ensure the crowd is bopping and hopping to their music selection.
The new generation Royal Princess is still under construction but will be launched ready for its 2013 maiden season. Initially she will follow the Grand Mediterranean routes over the summer and in Autumn move over to the Eastern Caribbean for over 3,500 guests to enjoy the amazing new facilities on board.
