Carnival Cruise Lines get into the “Spirit” of Red Nose Day


Carnival ship sailed into Sydney port with massive red nose on bow to mark 26th annual Red Nose Day

Carnival Cruise Lines’ ship ‘Spirit’ donned a ‘red nose’ that was seven meters in diameter and illuminated from the inside.

The giant red nose was Carnival’s way of celebrating their partnership with Red Nose Day’s organiser, national charity SIDs and Kids.

The company hopes to encourage Australians to get silly for the serious cause and put on their own red noses!

SIDs and Kids:

The charity are dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood.  They also provide support to bereaved families. Red Nose Day is the charity’s major annual fundraising event, held on the last Friday of June every year.

The charity day raises money for vital research, as well as much needed education and bereavement support for families.

Speaking about Carnival getting… well… into the Spirit of things, Jennifer Vandekreeke, The Cruise Line’s Australia and New Zealand Director said the company are thrilled to be involved with the charity, as well as divulging some information about a fabulous competition:

“By supporting SIDS and Kids we hope to give back to Australian families and in addition to Carnival Spirit getting into the Red Nose Day spirit with her own red nose, we are giving away a cruise for two onboard Carnival Spirit for the person who has the most fun creating an image on”

Onboard Carnival Spirit, guests can participate in a number of Red Nose themed activities including colouring in competitions, find-a-word games, fundraising walks around the outer decks and even special Red Nose desserts served onboard the ship by the Captain!

Meanwhile, at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on Friday, passengers enjoyed a carnival-like atmosphere, with celebrations including clowns, face painting, fire eating, unicycling and more!

Ms Vandekreeke added:

“Since Carnival Spirit made her debut in this market just eight months ago, she has proved a huge hit with Aussie families, therefore it’s only fitting that we support this great Australian charity, with the mantra of Red Nose Day – ‘get silly for a serious cause’ – resonating strongly with Carnival Cruise Lines because we are serious about providing playful (and sometimes even silly) experiences for our guests.”

SIDS and Kids CEO, Leanne Raven, also spoke about Carnival’s involvement in their fundraising efforts:

“Red Nose Day is all about being silly for a serious cause and the enormous red nose on Carnival Spirit certainly does that!”

“We hope this gave people a giggle whilst encouraging them to show their own support for SIDS and Kids on Red Nose Day.”
