In the last week of February, Royal Caribbean International started taking bookings for new ship Anthem of the Seas.
The cruise company announced that they’ve seen record sales since opening bookings. According to reports, guests booked up two-thirds of Anthem of the Seas’s premium balcony and suite accommodations in just the first day and a half on sale.
Understandably, Royal Caribbean’s managing director was very pleased about the reception of the new ship. He provided the following quote to the media:
“Since the announcement in November last year that Anthem of the Seas will call Southampton its home, the reaction from holiday makers and agents has been phenomenal. It’s been two weeks since we confirmed the itineraries and it’s clear that the anticipation has been there and converted to vigorous first day sales and we haven’t even announced all of our ground breaking features for this amazing new ship.
Anthem of the Seas clearly has great appeal and the high value bookings reflect that guests want to holiday in a new and innovative way and in style. Thank you to Crown and Anchor loyalty members and partners for delivering a record breaking welcome to this new ship.”
About Anthem of the Seas:
Anthem of the Seas is one of three new Quantum Class ships ordered by Royal Caribbean International. Quantum of the seas is the flagship vessel in the class. She will be delivered in November 2014. Once built, Anthem of the Seas will be the second ship in the class. She will be delivered to Southampton, UK in Spring 2015 and will be sailing one season in Europe. A third ship, as yet unnamed, will be delivered in 2016.
When built, the three ships will weigh in at 167,000 tonnes each. Guests will be able to access 16 different decks, each filled with restaurants, bars, entertainment and relaxing spaces.
Anthem of the Seas promises plenty of unique and new features for holidaymakers, including a ‘virtual balcony’ for inside cabins, the all new ‘SeaPlex’ activity center and a fabulously exhilarating simulated skydiving experience. Guests will also be able to enjoy bumper car rides, an authentic hotdog stand and a roller skating rink onboard all the Quantum Class ships.
Cruise fans are particularly interested in one new addition to the Quantum Class ships: the all new North Star transparent pod. The transparent pod will transport guests 300 feet above sea level giving them 360° panoramic views of the specular scenery; the ride will last for 15 minutes.
