We’ve had a little chat this morning about the cruise trips and packages we’re most exciting about this year. With a selection of new ships taking to the seas and more varied itineraries than ever, this was no easy task. Here we’ve managed to squeeze our favourite cruises down to a top five, and explained why we reckon they’ll be the highlights of 2015.
Walls and Warriors
A fantastic, cultural visit to the Great Wall of China and the awe-inspiring Terracotta Army collection of sculptures; the Walls and Warrior cruise aboard the brand new Quantum of the Seas presents a unique cruising experience. The Terracotta Army is a selection of beautiful sculptures dating back to the 3rd century BCE. Left undiscovered until 1974, the collection is a lasting tribute to the power and might or Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.
The Quantum of the Seas only made its debut in November and is the most technologically-advanced ship in operation. Relocating to Asia partway through 2015, this will be one of the first chances to experience the ‘Smartship’ in the Southern Hemisphere.
This 14 night cruise provides a real in-depth exploration of New Zealand, visiting many of the main port cities as well as some of the hard-to-reach regions and tiny islands. Setting sail from Sydney this cruise is a perfect opportunity for Australians to visit their close neighbours aboard the appropriately-named Explorer of the Seas. Visiting Maori settlements and old Victorian towns, this cruise is exceptionally culturally-enriching.
Like all Royal Caribbean ships, the Explorer of the Seas is very family oriented – offering great facilities and entertainment for all age groups.
New Caledonia & Vanuatu
The New Caledonia and Vanuatu cruise aboard the Golden Princess takes in some of the most stunning islands of the South Pacific, offering unique insights into the unspoilt lives of the region’s locals. The 13 nights at sea includes five different excursions including a visit to the fantastically named Mystery Island and Champagne Bay.
The Golden Princess is a fantastic family-friendly cruise ship with array of facilities and amenities for the whole family.
Barrier Reef Discovery
A relaxing yet educational voyage into the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, this cruise aboard the P&O Pacific Aria transports you to some of the best sightseeing and diving spots of the region. The week-long cruise takes in stops at Willis Island, Hamilton Island and Cairns. The latter is one of the world’s best-loved sites for visiting the Great Barrier Reef, attracting visitors from all around the world for more than 150 years.
As with all P&O Australia ships, there is a strong emphasis on high quality food, making this trip ideal for passionate gastronomes and gourmets.
Hawaii to Sydney
Setting sail from beautiful Honolulu, the Hawaii to Sydney cruise visits some of the most stunning islands in the world including Tahiti and Fiji. The cruise is dedicated to relaxation, taking in laid back beach resorts, giving you the chance to enjoy crystal clear waters and seemingly endless stretches of golden sands.
