Panama Canal Cruise Deals

Experience the largest short cut in the world as you traverse the 82km series of locks, gates and lakes of the Panama Canal. Work began on this engineering marvel in 1880 by the engineer Ferdinand de Lesseps but wasnt completed until 1914, its territory at first being Colombian, then French then American, finally reverting to Panamanian governership in 1999. Your cruise will take you through a series of incredible locks that will first raise your ship to the Gaillard Cut and Gatun Lake allowing passage through the impenitable and untouched jungles that tumble down on all sides, this is what has made Panama canal cruises very popular. As your ship enters each lock a team of small rail engines or "mules" will guide your passage through another series of locks until your ship is then lowered until it reaches the other side.

For the technically minded each lock is 33.5m wide and 320m long and between 19 and 24m deep, each gate being 19.5 metres wide and 20m high, and the maximum height of the ship being governed by the Bridge of the Americas at Balboa. And if all that is too much then sit back, grab your camera and soak up one of the most incredible and unique cruise experiences in the world.

Cruise 1st preferred partners in this region include Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Princess Cruises and Holland America in conjunction with these we have ensured we can always get you a cheap Panama canal cruise deal.
